Hello, this is Maria.

I am an Italian taught, London raised, designer and architect currently based in Brussels.

I learn, work and play across architecture, design and art. My focus is on challenging materials, design and construction processes, finding intelligent solutions to contemporary issues.

I like thinking of architecture as scientists do of spatial ecology. Building is part of a larger system of interactions between components. Its articulation into form, structure and pattern should emerges in response to its environmental conditions. The choices of materials, resources, and construction processes should never be arbitrary but always the thoughtful answer to a design question.

 

Today, Architecture can no longer be a process of sculpting inert matter, and perhaps the greatest challenge for my generation of designers is to get back to a regenerative and collaborative way of working in harmony with the systems we belong to.
